What does a WER cover?

Window Energy Rating Labels or WER’s are a grading system for energy efficiency in double glazed windows, that identifies some of the main characteristics of the whole replacement double glazing window not just the double glazing itself.

Window Energy Rating LabelsAreas covered by the label are the ‘U’ value, what the (effective) heat loss will be due to air coming in an out (leakage) and ‘solar heat gain’ or how much heat it will let in, but not let out.

The whole labeling is based on the traffic light colours with green being the most & red being the least energy efficient –  it is also alphabetical from A to G with the very best windows getting A+ or A++ ratings for having excellent energy efficient characteristics.
